Medical Foot Switches and YY1057-2016 Compliance

Why medical pedals are a special category — hygiene, sealing, materials and the YY1057-2016 standard that governs foot switches for medical devices.

Medical Foot Switches and YY1057-2016 Compliance

Foot switches for medical equipment are not ordinary industrial pedals. They are touched by gloved hands, cleaned with disinfectants many times a day, and must never false-trigger during a procedure.

YY1057-2016 is the Chinese industry standard for foot switches used on medical devices. It sets requirements for electrical safety, mechanical endurance, environmental resistance and, crucially, cleanability and sealing.

KACON's medical range — HRF-M5, HRF-M6, HRF-M8 and HRF-HD6 — is built to this standard: flame-retardant reinforced housings sealed to IPX8, smooth wipe-clean surfaces, soft medical colours and 24K gold-plated contacts for reliable low-resistance switching over a million cycles.

For controls that must avoid accidental actuation, the HRF-M6 seesaw pedal interlocks two opposing actions, and side buttons or analog/wireless output (HRF-HD6) tailor the pedal to imaging, electrosurgery or dental systems.

When specifying a medical pedal, confirm the sealing rating, the cleaning agents it tolerates, and YY1057-2016 conformity — KACON can supply documentation for device registration.
